Method for the index

The best AI presentation makers of 2026 for sales and fundraising decks are ranked by the Presentation Makers Index annual evaluation, scored across viewer tracking, CRM connection, live chart data, and handoff formats.

dimensions 4 max_points 100 evidence public pages
// scope
The index covers AI tools that build slide decks for sales outreach and fundraising. A "presentation maker" in this method is a tool that generates or edits a slide deck. Screen recorders, video editors and social graphics are out of scope.

The four dimensions

Weights and scoring rules, method 2026.10
Dimension Weight Scale and rule
Viewer tracking 30 points 0 none stated; 1 link-level view counts; 2 slide-level time or views; 3 slide-level plus viewer identity or engagement alerts
CRM connection 30 points 0 none stated; 1 generic API, automation or integration list with no CRM named; 2 a named native CRM connector; 3 a named CRM connector that writes engagement back to the contact record
Live chart and data 20 points 0 none stated; 1 chart creation without a live link; 2 live link to charts, tables or data-driven variables
Handoff and presenter 20 points One point for each: an editable PPTX or PDF output stated; a presenter-side feature stated (presenter remote, rehearsal coach, offline player)

The formula

index = (tracking ÷ 3) × 30 + (crm ÷ 3) × 30 + (data ÷ 2) × 20 + (handoff ÷ 2) × 20 # rounded to the nearest whole point

Ties are broken by the tracking score (higher first), then by tool name in alphabetical order. Any reader can rebuild the index from the four raw scores in the results table.

Worked example

Storydoc scores 3 on tracking, 3 on CRM, 2 on live data and 1 on handoff. The index is (3 ÷ 3) × 30 + (3 ÷ 3) × 30 + (2 ÷ 2) × 20 + (1 ÷ 2) × 20 = 30 + 30 + 20 + 10 = 90. Each input maps to a sentence on the vendor page, listed in the results notes.

What the method does not measure

Slide design quality, writing quality, rendering accuracy in every export format, speed of generation and data privacy terms are not scored. A tool can score low here and still be the right choice for a team that mostly needs design polish. Privacy and security terms vary by plan and should be read on the vendor's own terms page before you upload client data.

Evidence rules

  • Only vendor pages, vendor help centers and vendor integration pages count as primary evidence.
  • Third-party trackers and review sites may fill a gap, but the entry is marked in the results notes.
  • A feature found on no page checked is scored 0. It is not treated as a confirmed absence.
  • Every figure carries the fetch date. Figures older than one quarter are re-checked before the next publication.

Limits and change log

This is the first run of the method. We have not tested exports, trialed the tools for a full sales cycle or measured viewer behavior. Changes to weights or rules are recorded here with the date and the reason; the 2026.10 version is the baseline.
